AMC is an American cable and satellite television channel that is owned by AMC Networks and was launched on October 1, 1984. Mostly, the network airs theatrically released films, with a limited amount of original programming. Initially, AMC stood for American Movie Classics. However, the full name was de-emphasized in 2002 due to a major shift in programming. While movies remain an integral part of AMC's scheduled programming, the network has garnered attention in recent years for its widely successful original series, such as The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and NOS4A2.
The cable channel kicked off its Anne Rice television franchise with the premieres of Interview with the Vampire[1] in 2022 and Mayfair Witches[2] in 2023, two gothic horror series based on the novels of the same name. A third series, The Talamasca: The Secret Order, is set to premiere in October 2025.[3]
