Biography[]
A prince of the Chola dynasty in India, brought into the Blood by Pandora around 1300. Appears in Blood and Gold and also in Pandora.
Arjun was born in India of noble origin. He is described as having beautiful, large liquid black eyes that accompanied a smooth enticing mouth. He had black hair with lustrous brown skin.
Marius tries in vain to make Pandora leave her companion and fledgling, Arjun, and come back to him. Pandora's relationship with Arjun is of great concern to Marius, who fears Pandora is being held against her will. She outwardly denies this, refusing to leave Arjun and to stay with Marius. After Pandora's and Arjun's departure, Marius discovers a letter from Pandora left for him in which she admits her relationship with Arjun isn't as preferable to the relationship with him, despite her earlier outwardly denying she was being held against her will by Arjun. She sets a place and time where they can meet and leave together, but by the time Marius discovers her letter, the time has passed and it is too late.
In the 1700’s, during the reign of Catherine the Great, Arjun and Pandora are living in St. Petersburg, Russia. Arjun spends much of his time away from their home and Pandora hires Dmitriy Fontayne (known as Mitka) to be her librarian and historian. Upon returning home, one night to find Mitka present, Arjun flies into a jealous rage and runs Mitka through before storming off. Pandora gives Mitka the Dark Blood to save his life and when Arjun learns of this, he forces Mitka to flee, vowing to destroy him should they ever cross paths again.
In 1985 during the events of The Queen of the Damned, Pandora is among the thirteen vampires who survived Akasha's killing spree that gathered at Maharet's house in the Sonoma compound to battle against Akasha. Arjun is not among them. Pandora later admits to David Talbot that she could not bring herself to leave Arjun, citing that his stronger will propelled them both through time. Arjun is later mentioned destroying young vampires by the controlling voice of Amel, sobbing and sunken into his remorse over his actions. Arjun is also mentioned to be by Pandora's side in the court of Prince Lestat in the book Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis.
While on a trip to New Orleans to answer a distress call sent by Mitka in 2017, Lestat learns that Arjun’s censure of him is what has kept Mitka from attending the Court. After vowing to confront Arjun to settle the dispute, Lestat is urgently called home by Armand, who informs him that Arjun has just been destroyed by Marius.
Marius informs Lestat, upon his arrival, that Arjun had confronted him about Pandora and had sent the Fire Gift at Marius, who - being the stronger of the two - had sent it back at Arjun, incinerating him.
