The Civic Theater in downtown New Orleans was built in 1906.[1] The theater hosted plays, vaudeville, concerts, burlesque and film. During his childhood, Michael Curry's mother would take him to see films at this theater. Mrs. Curry would take him on the streetcar to see Saturday matinees.[2]
