Biography[]

Deirdre's funeral[]

After attending Deirdre's funeral, Dolly Jean heads over to the reception at the First Street House, where Tessa informs Rowan of the woman, who were accused of being witches, being burned alive, but Dolly Jean insists that those women who were burned weren't actual witches.[1]

Transference Spell[]

At Cortland's behest, Dolly Jean helps Rowan perform the transference spell that will transfer Lasher and the power to the female next of kin. Before they begin, they first retrieve a doll made of bones, with parts from all former designees, whose blessing they require to perform the transference. With the Mayfair women gathered in a circle, they commence the ceremony, at which point, they pass the doll around in a circle and kiss its head. Not long after, Rowan drops to the ground and begins to choke as she pulls the necklace from her mouth. Dolly Jean retrieves it and attempts to find its new wearer, with Lasher having chosen Tessa, who gleefully accepts him as part of her. Dolly Jean helps Rowan to her feet and questions why she looks so sad despite claiming she's fine.[2]

Dolly Jean arrives at Alicia's after learning that Tessa was taken by witch hunters, who intend to burn her alive. Before long, Cortland arrives with Alonso, a scry who they believe may be able to find Tessa's location. After Alicia's blood fails to help them narrow down an area, Rowan offers her blood. Afterward, Dolly Jean helps Rowan wrap her hand, at which point, she realizes that Rowan is pregnant and asks how far along is she. She then reports this discovery to Cortland.[3]

Dolly Jean overhears JoJo and Ciprien discussing the prophecy, revealing that Lasher is attempting to fulfil it by embodying Rowan's unborn child, to which Dolly Jean reveals that Lasher's ripening is counted in hours, not months. From JoJo, Dolly Jean also learns that Cortland raped Deirdre so that Rowan would be born and then killed her so that Rowan could come into power. Dolly Jean urges JoJo not to be too hard on herself for not seeing what type of man her father was. Dolly Jean on the other hand has known Cortland since he was a child and says that he has always been selfish.[4]
