Dr. Larry Petrie, a psychiatrist from a sanitarium, treats Deirdre Mayfair at her home from early spring to early September of 1983. He administers her injections of Thorazine.[1] (He is the POV character for Part One, Chapter One of The Witching Hour novel.)

Early Life[]

Larry Petrie grew up in Portland, Maine, where his father had a psychiatric practice.

Treating Deirdre Mayfair[]

In early spring of 1983, Dr. Petrie is sent to the First Street House to treat Deidre Mayfair. He is sent by the local sanitarium where he works. He administers her injections of Thorazine. By September of 1983, he is removed from the position.

Life After Working at the First Street House[]

In the Spring of 1984, Dr. Petrie sees Lasher on numerous occasions, leading to his swift resignation from the hospital. He quickly drove out of New Orleans and headed back home to Portland, Maine. He began to work in his father's psychiatry office and eventually built his own private practice.

While attending a psychiatrist convention in New York City, he crosses paths with Aaron Lightner in the lobby bar at the Parker Meridian Hotel where he is staying. During his stay, he decided to meet up again with Mr. Lightner and share the story of his experience in the First Street House and his sightings of the mysterious man.[1]
