Jasper is a main character on the AMC gothic horror drama, Talamasca: The Secret Order. He is portrayed by William Fichtner.[1]
Jasper is a mysterious American who has quietly assumed control and influence over the Talamasca's London Motherhouse. While his motives and methods are cloaked in shadow, his charm and righteous sense of purpose are as dangerous as the power he's pursuing.[1]
Biography[]
Early life[]
In the 1920s, Jasper was a human member of a Vampire coven led by Mergu. Mergu and the rest of the coven, seventeen individuals, were killed by the vampire Vesel. With the assistance of information from a Talamasca agent, Vesel sought vengeance against Mergu after being banished from a coven in Romania in 1271 for feeding off of chickens instead of humans. After Mergu's death, Jasper made his way to Texas and eventually became a vampire himself. Jasper sought vengeance against the Talamasca and took over the London Motherhouse with the intention of retrieving the 752 and using it to bring down the Talamasca.[2]
Seeking Vengeance[]
In 2025, Soledad Marcel takes a drive with information on Olive Farington, an agent also known as Chrysalis. After pursuing Soldead, Jasper witnesses her stepping in front of a train, killing herself. Thinking over these events, Jasper uses a clicker to trigger a group of revenant vampires he had kept in the basement of a building.[3]
Greg Owen brings Jasper intelligence from the police investigation on the death of Soledad, anticipating that another agent will be sent in Soledad's place. Jasper has dinner with Owen and Archie, and becomes aware of Guy attempting to listen in on them from outside. Jasper captures fired Talamasca agent Checkers and transforms him into a revenant. When Jasper and Own discuss Archie's death, it is revealed that Owen is dying of cancer, and Jasper is giving him his healing blood in exchange for control of the Motherhouse.
Guy Anatole visits the London Motherhouse, and Jasper confronts him. Guy offers to help Jasper find the 752.
Working with Guy Anatole[]
Jasper tells Guy his history and the reasons for his hatred of the Talamasca. He sends Guy on a mission to uncover information at a building owned by a vampire coven known to deal in black market goods, sending the revenant Checkers along with him. After the mission goes wrong and Checkers has destroyed the coven, Jasper arrives to the hotel to discover the real nature of the business: an ancient vampire kept barely alive, whose blood is being sold.
In the vehicle leaving the scene, Jasper questions how Checkers and his associate were tipped off that the deal was going poorly. Guy denies he is working with anyone else, as Doris, who tipped off Jasper's associates, hides in the trunk. Jasper demands Guy tell the truth, and when Guy continues to deny having a partner, he and Jasper get into a physical fight. Jasper summons his revenants, and Doris bursts from the trunk and lights Jasper on fire with a makeshift flamethrower. Jasper is heavily injured and Doris and Guy get away. Jasper is able to heal himself with a vial of blood taken from the black market coven.
Captured by the Talamasca[]
Jasper kills Owen and is captured by the Talamasca. He is bound in iron chains, and the majority of his revenants are destroyed. The Talamasca agent Housman reveals that he allowed Jasper to seek out the 752 to help them find it, but now that they have gotten close to it, he is no longer needed. Housman gives Jasper a new task, and leads him to a room full of incapacitated bodies, who he tells him to make into more vampires.
Powers and abilities[]
Jasper has the standard abilities of a vampire in the Immortal Universe, including speed, strength, and the ability to read minds. Jasper also has the ability to create revenants and control them using a remote-like device.
