Moira Mayfair is a main character on the AMC gothic horror drama, Mayfair Witches. She is portrayed by Alyssa Jirrels.[1]
Moira is Rowan's cousin and a mind reader who blames the family and Lasher for the death of her sister Tessa.
Biography[]
Working with the Talamasca[]
Moira returns home, greets her younger sister Daphne, and insists that it wasn't her responsibility to hold off the funeral. It was their mom's, who embraces Moira before explaining to her that they should be celebrating; while Tessa may be dead, she was part of Lasher being born, though Moira is upset that he didn't rescue Tessa as he should have. So after visiting her sister's grave, Moira goes to the First Street House to confront Lasher, though he is being protected by Rowan and Dolly Jean.[2]
Unable to even have a simple, genuine conversation with her mother, who refuses to talk to her without music playing to counter Moira's mind reading, Moira meets with some friends at a café, where she is approached by Ciprien. She immediately deduces he is with the Talamasca, as he has a wall up in his head, preventing her from reading his mind. It's only when he lowers the wall in his head that she agrees to talk to him. Moira learns of his entire relationship with Rowan and how he's still in love with her. Sip asks Moira what she's going to do when she sees Lasher face-to-face. She's going to read his mind and see what really happened between him and her sister. However, she doesn't think she'd be the asset he's looking for. However, she calls him for help when she returns home and finds her mother dead after having been killed by Lasher.[3]
Moira reluctantly attends the family gathering at the First Street House, where she confronts Rowan for lying and not knowing where Lasher actually is. Rowan can't tell the family that Lasher is responsible for the recent killings because she fears they would leave, and she needs them at the house so that she can lure Lasher in. Moira is skeptical, so Rowan offers Moira the opportunity to read her mind and see if she's telling the truth, but Moira experiences a sharp pain when trying to do so, comparing it to being stabbed in the brain with a knife. Nevertheless, Rowan swears to Moira that the second Lasher walks through the door, she will handle him. Moria promises to fall back, only to report back to Ciprien, and along with the Talamasca, they capture Lasher.[4]
Saving Daphne[]
Moira reaches out to Sip in hopes that he can bring Lasher back to the house so that Rowan can pull Daphne and Jojo out of the thrall. However, Albrecht betrayed them and fled with Lasher. So they seek out answers from Cortland, learning that Julien was Albrecht's real partner. So she and Rowan head over to Dolly Jean's, as she's in possession of Julien's Victrola, which he has bound himself to. Moira channels him somehow and recites the follow: "The slaughter of innocence. We will drink the draught of the favorite children of God. Taltos! Taltos! Taltos!"[5]
Moira probes Cortland's mind for the location in which Albrecht took Lasher. They believe him to be somewhere in Scotland, but the memory is lost in Cortland's mind until Moira pulls it from him, along with the fact that Cortland has a brother named Ian.[6]
Moira arrives in Kilbride with Rowan, Lark, and Cortland. She strays off and begins following a man in a red robe after hearing him say, "Taltos will end your suffering." Moira follows the man in the red robe into a bar, but she loses sight of him.[7]
Moira is locked in a room with Fiona, who's rather unintelligent and has nothing of importance in her head. She is briefly reunited with Rowan and reveals that as of yesterday, Lasher is fine but Amintha won't get close enough for Moira to read her mind. But Moira did read off of her that they killed Albrecht. Moira is prepared to leave after learning that they offered Rowan a vial of Lasher's blood, but she turned it down, as they clearly want her gone. Rowan fears for Lasher's life and intends to stay until she can figure out what Julien has planned. Until then, Moira must stay in the room with Fiona.[8]
Moira has escaped past Fiona and disguised herself as the help, allowing her to snoop around and learn that Emaleth has had eight children so far, and they are growing quickly. She also reads the mind of one of the Mayfairs and overhears her say that after the feast, she'll never work again, with Moira concluding that they'll be feasting on the children for power. She eventually convenes with Rowan and Lasher, and while the two of them confront Ian and his family, Moira and Lark go searching for Lasher's children. After the Talamasca rescues the children, Rowan manages to get some of Lasher's blood, which they bring home to save Daphne and Jojo.[9]
