The Pontchartrain Hotel is a historic hotel on St. Charles Street in New Orleans.

In about 1952, Michael Curry's Aunt Vivian stays briefly at the hotel while visiting her sister and nephew. They both joined Aunt Vivian for dinner in the Caribbean Room, the fancy dining room in the hotel. Michael often walked by the hotel during his childhood, envious of the people staying there.
