Trivia[]
- The film is a loose adaptation of The Queen of the Damned, but includes some elements of the second book in the series, The Vampire Lestat, that provide required backstory.
- Many major storylines from the books are not in the film, but characters in the film also deviate from the ones in the book series in some notable specific ways: Marius is presented in the movie as Lestat's vampire maker (where in the books, Lestat is made by Magnus and seeks out his eventual mentor Marius afterwards), Akasha's plan is to kill humanity (in the books it is specifically to eliminate most of the male population), and Maharet becomes the holder of the sacred core after Akasha's death (in the book, it is her twin sister Mekare, who is not included in the movie). The relationship between Jesse and Lestat is also expanded, the two characters only having had brief interactions in the book.
- Several major characters from the book The Queen of the Damned are not included in the movie, and other major characters (Armand, Pandora, Mael, and Khayman) are only given names in a deleted scene.
