Redemptorist School was the Catholic school Michael Curry attended during his childhood in New Orleans. Uptown kids would speak of it contemptuously. Michael was ashamed of his accent that marked him as a kid from that school. At the same time, Michael felt the nuns at the school taught the children how to read and write very well. The students had beautiful handwriting, knew their arithmetic tables, and learned Latin, history, and literature.
