A Replimoid is an extraterrestrial artificial being created by a group of birdlike creatures known as the Parents from the planet Bravenna. Replimoids are human in appearance, but are grown organically from a blend of cells from the planet Earth, including the DNA of all life forms. Replimoids are mortal, but may have extremely long life spans or be invulnerable to certain causes of death, as Replimoids created several thousand years ago still live.
Replimoids are human in appearance, but with distinctive features. Replimoids are generally darker skinned, and have black or dark hair. Replimoids created by the parents have a single golden streak in their hair, whereas Replimoids created via regeneration from existing Replimoids have more blonde in their hair. Replimoids each have distinct personalities and levels of intelligence, which were to some degree designed by the Parents to fulfil specific purposes.
Replimoids reproduce by regeneration, as the severed limbs or body parts of a Replimoid can grow into a fully grown Replimoid in a fairly short period of time, and the original body part will regrow. The new being will have the intelligence and knowledge of their parent. The intelligence and will of each successive generation of Replimoids, made from a regenerated body part of another Replimoid made from a regenerated body part, decreases with each generation. A Replimoid ten generations removed from a Replimoid created by the parents is mindless and only seeks simple comforts. In Blood Communion, the Replimoid Kapetria explains that they have stopped experimenting with Replimoid generations for ethical reasons.
