When Michael Curry was coming to after his near-death experience, he thought of Rowan as "a fragile being with a pale delicate face...her gray eyes flickering".[2]
She is described as tall and beautifully androgynous with ashen blond hair and piercing grey eyes. She is also said to have a very distinct voice, what is called a "whiskey voice."
Undeniably attractive; Large piercing pale grey eyes with dark lashes and straight dark eyebrows; Extremely beautiful mouth; Remarkably beautiful skin; Ashen blonde hair; Resembles Petyr van Abel (except his deep-set eyes) with similar narrow face and "Nordic look"; 5'10"; Delicate yet boyish; Appears "cold", but has warm, deep, and slightly husky ("whiskey") voice; "Have to know her, really, to like her" vibe, but is universally liked ~ Rowan summarized from "The Mayfair Witches, Part X" Talamasca file / Book 1: The Witching Hour; Ch 25
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Born in New Orleans on November 7, 1959, she is the biological daughter of Deirdre Mayfair[1], who was the designee of the Mayfair Legacy and thereby passing on the title to her daughter. She is taken from Deirdre at birth by her great aunt, Carlotta Mayfair[1] and given the name of Rowan. She is then adopted and raised by an extended Mayfair family member, Ellie Mayfair, and her husband, Graham Franklin, who are unable to conceive their own children.[1] Her father, it is speculated, was Cortland Mayfair, one of Julien Mayfair's sons and therefore was closely related. She grows up and is educated in the city of the San Francisco, attending Pacific Heights School in 1966.[1] By 1983, she is a medical intern.[1] A few years later, she has passed her examinations, is board-certified and a surgeon.[1] She becomes a gifted neurosurgeon using both her exceptional intellect and paranormal gifts, including the ability to know if a patient would survive surgery, or indeed if they needed it, just by touching them, to save lives.[3]
During a kidnapping and attack by a rapist she used her telekinetic abilities to kill him by causing him to suffer from an aneurysm. Previously, at age 6, she had caused a cerebral hemorrhage in a fellow pupil who attacked her at school. Both incidences were very traumatic experiences for Rowan. Later in life of Rowan would use her powers maliciously both involving extremely manic situations. She caused her adopted father to have a heart attack when 2 months prior to the death from cancer of her adopted mother, he planned to steal her (the mother's) fortune and leave with his mistress, also planning to sell the home to that mistress. She also used it against the mistress when she called at the house after the death of the father, but was unaware of what she had done, never realizing the mistress had died. Though it should be noted the resulting death occurred sometime after her encounter with Rowan which exhibits the range and power of her abilities.
Rescuing Michael Curry[]
On May 1st in about 1985, Rowan is skippering her boat alone in the bay in San Francisco and rescues Michael Curry from the waters. When she gets him aboard he says something that begins with the letter L and seems like some sort of name.[2]
